Riga (2025)

Riga (Latvian: Rīga) is the capital of Latvia and, with around 600,000 inhabitants, the largest city in the Baltics.
The old Hanseatic city is famous for its Art Nouveau buildings and its spacious grounds, as well as for its well-preserved city center, especially the old town.
Even before the founding of Riga (1201) at the confluence of the later filled-in stream Rīdzene (German: Riege – hence the name Riga) and the Daugava, there was a settlement of the Finno-Ugric Livonians on the right bank of the Daugava.
In short: definitely worth a trip, as is the entire Baltic States.
