Edinburgh Tattoo (2025)
Finally, in 2025, I had the opportunity to visit the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo in person—a must-see on my bucket list. The Scots themselves simply refer to it as "The Tattoo."
The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo is Scotland's largest music festival. It is part of the Edinburgh
Festival and has taken place every August since 1950 on the square directly in front of Edinburgh Castle, the "Esplanade." This year it was the Tattoo 75 – a big party.
Seeing it live is always an experience - especially the honoring of all members of the military and the fact that a portion of the proceeds goes to the families of the fallen, those who were injured, and others.
